CIEZKI, Richard Stanley

December 13, 1939 – Webster, Alberta
June 12, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Richard (Dick) Ciezki at the age of 78 years.

Richard was born on a farm near Webster, Alberta, the oldest son of Mike and Alice Ciezki. He grew up in the Sexsmith area and joined the Royal Bank at the age of 17. He moved throughout Alberta, Hay River, NWT and Toronto, but spent most of his time in Calgary, where he raised his two sons, Rick and Mike. Retiring from the bank after thirty-seven years in 1994, he spent the next few years working for small oil companies, telecommunications companies and he started his own small business selling and servicing vending machines.

Richard’s greatest love was his family and he loved hosting family dinners. He enjoyed spending time with his sons and siblings and was immensely proud of his grandchildren. Sleepovers, camping and volunteering at their schools were only a few of the favourite things he did with them. Richard enjoyed curling in the winter and golfing in the summer. He liked reading, country music, dancing at the Legion and making his own wine. He was an active member of the Church, including the Knights of Columbus where he was a 3rd degree knight and was also an integral member of his condo association.

Richard will be dearly missed by his two sons and their spouses, Rick and Tracy Ciezki and Mike and Shauna Ciezki; his five grandchildren, Jason, Tara, Cailyn, Stephen, and Kylie; and his special friend Marguerite Harvey. Left also to grieve are Richard’s siblings and their spouses, Emily and Ken Small, Betty Unger, Adele Unger, John Ciezki, Ted and Carrie Ciezki and Tom and Daryl Ciezki as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Alice; sisters, Mary Ciezki and Helen Gobin; and brothers-in-law Jim Unger and Maurice Gobin.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Michael Catholic Community (800 – 85th Street S.W.) on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael Catholic Community (800 – 85th Street S.W.) on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the church.
