Nicholas Chupik, beloved husband of Mabel Chupik of Calgary, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at the age of 84 years.
Nick was born on September 5, 1923 in Stanislaviw, Ukraine. In 1928, at the age of five, his parents and two brothers immigrated to Canada and settled in the Ituna, SK district. In May of 1936, they moved to the Danbury, SK district. Nick enlisted in the army in August of 1943. He served with the Canadian Occupation Army in Germany and was honourably discharged in June 1946. Soon after, he met Mabel Krywulak. They were married on October 12, 1947 and made their home in the Danbury area where they farmed until their retirement in November 1999. They retired to Calgary, AB to be near their eight children, fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Besides his loving wife, Mabel, Nick is survived by his children, Walter (Liza), Harry (Denise), Michael, Alexander (Angie), Rosemarie Chupik (Bill Conabree), Carolyn (Glen) Gray, Terry (Miranda), and Russell; his grandchildren, Phillip (Suzie), Jason (Janey), Yvonne, Christopher, Sarah, Mark (Andrea), Rhys and Lachlan Conabree, Ryan, Breelyn, and Caitlyn Gray, Nicholas, Daniel, Alex and Olivia Chupik; his great-grandchildren, Jenaya, Jayden and Kayla Chupik, and Ryan Blaney. Nick is also survived by his brothers, Mike (Julie) of Victoria, BC and John (Violet) of Chilliwack, BC; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Nick was predeceased by his parents, Anton and Anastasia; his brothers, Sam and Bill; and his sister Anna in infancy. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
