CHUCHLA, Claire Helen

February 14, 2014 – Calgary, AB

Claire Helen Chuchla beloved daughter of Walter and Anna Chuchla born June 7th 1934 in Edmonton, Alberta passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014 at the age of 79 years, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, with her family at her side.

Claire embraced life and cherished her Roman Catholic faith, which helped her get through this battle.

She graduated from Gonzaga University in Washington in 1957, with a nursing degree. With this degree she worked in Edmonton, Calgary, Montreal and Ponoka. She later taught nursing at Mount Royal College and the Foothills Hospital, she was very proud of the medical profession.

Claire loved gardening, walking, and socializing she enjoyed her Valley-Ridge neighbours and the Valley – Ridge girls. She travelled all over the world, it was during her travels were she met some of her life long friends Paul, Gordon, Nicole and Carlos.

We would like to give special thanks to all her angels, the Home Care and Pallative Care nurses; Dr. Michael Mah; and her good friends, Susan and Gord Smith, Sandy and Shirley Friessen, Joan Nolan and Gord and Marlis Jones.

Claire is survived by her aunts and uncles, Francis and George McArthur of Toronto, Florence and Art Pieronek-Blott of Vancouver, Reverent John and Chester Zurek of Chicago, Loraine Lowen, of Irricana; Cousins, Bruce, Gale and Gary of Calgary, Allan of Arizona, Debbie, Deirdre, Denise and Ross; The Kot family, the Ciuncyk family, Kuldanek family, Lucy and Keith Perron, Barrie and Clara Wright, Anna Kocur, Wanda Kennedy and Dwayne Bereska. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Anna Chuchla, uncle, Ted Pieronek, also numerous other relatives.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church(10 River Heights Drive, Cochrane), on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 11 a.m. Father Bill Corcoran will be presiding.
