It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our family matriarch at the age of 79 on Friday, August 15, 2008 in Calgary, after a courageous battle with cancer.
ock Ying epitomized the meaning of devoted wife, loving mother and mother-in-law, doting grandmother, dear great-grandmother, and caring sister.
Yock Ying cherished the time she spent with her family. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and taking strolls in the outdoors with her husband. Some of her favourite vacation spots included Hawaii and the Caribbean. Grandma was full of kindness and always gave herself unselfishly. We thank her for caring and for giving us her unconditional love. Her kind spirit, gentle heart and warm personality will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
Yock Ying will be greatly missed by her husband Wayne of sixty years; her six children, Jenny (Joe) Mah, Brenda (James) Tam, Linda (Michael) Chu, Betty (Ted) Mah, Andy Chin, and George (Kam) Chin; her twelve grandchildren, Jennifer, Joanne (Brian), Kevin (Patricia), Monica (Minh), Melissa, Stephen, Nelson, Christopher, Jonathan, Miranda, Naiomi, Abigail; and her three great grandchildren, Braxton, Mataia and Quintus. Yock Ying is also survived by her elder sister Tsui Ying and two younger brothers, Wing Hoi and Vei Hoi, as well as many nieces and nephews.
