Cheasley, George Phillip

George Phillip Cheasley beloved husband of Mrs. Velma Cheasley passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre on Monday, April 14, 2008.

George was born and raised on a farm near Alexander, MB. He had many challenges and had great success with all his ventures as a farmer, as well as owner and operator of Texaco Service Stations. He was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion #284. George also received many awards for safe city and highway driving. George worked for Calgary Transit for thirty-five years where drove a Bus and was a Heavy Equipment Operator (tractor-trailer). George just wanted people to be decent and honest and may God bless. George had a brilliant mind for business and was very successful. He had many activities that he enjoyed upon retirement, crib, darts, lawn bowling and displaying his show car. With a great sense of humour George had a great social life with many friends and family.

Besides his loving wife Velma, George is also survived by his two daughters and one son-in-law, Sharon and Clay Hodges; Heather Cheasley all of Calgary; and two grandchildren, Shannon Hodges and Christopher Hodges. He is also survived by two sisters, Winelda Curtis of Brandon, MB; Jean (Miles) Stephens of Calgary, AB; and one sister-in-law Gladys Cheasley of Alexander, MB and families; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
