  1. Big Bob will be missed. In my 10 years with MRU I’ve always known him to be a staple on campus. The Picnic In The Park and the love he put into that TVP fundraiser will live on in his memory. Much love.

  4. Ian Douglas, Guardsman :

It was always a delight over the past years to visit Calgary, Mount Royal University, and have the opportunity to meet with Bob. His great memories of times with the Guards battalions allowed us both to reminisce about the good/bad “old days’. Bob never truly retired, he was devoted to the Regiment, and latterly to his wards at the University. A true soldier and Canadian, Bob will be remembreed fondly by all who knew him.

  5. W. A. Douglas Yuill :

I was fortunate to have served several tours in 2nd battalion of the Regiment of Canadian Guards when Bob Charlton was also serving there. He was an exemplary soldier and one who made a very significant contribution to a then new Regiment. It was the opportunity to serve with individuals such as he that made my periods of Regimental service so memorable. It was a pleasure and an honour to serve with citizens such as Bob, (and many of his compatriots who had similar qualities of loyalty and devotion to duty). He, like they, added immensely to the very distinguished service which the Regiment provided during its relatively brief existence, and to the enjoyment of such service for the remainder of his compatriots. W.A.Douglas Yuill, OMM, CD3, (B Gen, retired).

I was saddened to be informed of the profound loss of Bob Charlton .Bob truly was a great man. He spent many hours over many years in the offices of TVP planning safety for our students, acting as an employer interviewing our students , giving feedback on their interview skill,s and , of course, planning the Picnic in the Park. This was one of many, many barbeques where Bob volunteered his time. Bob will be sadly missed by many. May I extend my condolences to his family.

Dad will forever hold a high place in my heart .He was more then just a dad and it would take more then one book to even touch the surface of who he was and what he meant to me . He will be missed in the physical ,but will remain with me forever in my heart and I will continue to hear his words of wisdom and encouragement when I am tasked with difficult matters .I stand and salute you dad as you now journey on and I say Thanks for being you! Love you always and forever more .

Saddened to hear of Bob’s departure. Marc Dandurand and I played elves on his Santa show on CFNS in the mid-70’s. We were naughty elves, and Bob spent a lot of time chastising us. He really was a great Santa, but more importantly a great man. I have many happy memories of him, and indeed, of all the wonderful Baden folk. Our condolences to all of you.

  13. Howie Pierce, Gdsm :

We have lost a true Gentlemen – Bob C., was an inspiration for so many during his lifetime. He was a good friend back in the day when the Canadian Guards were making their mark within the “New” Canadian Forces. In NATO West Germany I can still see him out on the land playing as we said “silly bugger” as we wandered up the road heading to Sennelager. In Garrison because we knew our way around a typewriter we were put to work in the battalion Orderly Room. That was Bob a force to be reckoned with … God bless you Bob, and give comfort to those who knew him.
