It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Ann Chapman at home on March 10, 2008 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 60 years.
Sue was born in Sheffield, England on January 21, 1948 and immigrated to Vancouver, BC in October 1967. It was there that she began her career with Canadian Pacific Railway. She met and married the love of her life, Daniel Wayne Chapman, who was sadly taken from her in 1993 after 23 years of marriage. Sue and Dan made the difficult decision to move from Vancouver to Montreal in 1984 with CP Rail. In 1996, she left Montreal to create a new life in Calgary. Sue retired from CP in 2004, taking up Art at the U of C, and volunteered to watch her grandchildren almost daily. She was passionate about nature and the outdoors which included camping, nature walks and gardening. These were some of her fondest memories with family. Mom enjoyed nothing more than having her family around her, embracing us with her warmth and love.
She leaves behind father Jim, sister Wendy (Rob), daughters Sheryl (Frank) and Donna (Clyde), grandchildren Madelyne, Paige, Daniel and Kathryn, stepchildren Brenda and Bob and their families, and sister-in-law Marilyn (Joe). She is predeceased by husband Dan and mother Nellie. She also leaves behind friends and extended family she cared for throughout her life.
