  6. As a Shell colleague I always enjoyed my interactions with Michel. He always looked for the practical not necessarily the politically correct solutions and with a wry smile was quick with a joke. As a member of the IT Management team Michel was a clear example of what made Shell Canada a great organization – caring, professional and fun.

I am so sorry that I will not be able to attend on Monday but please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

    Dear Lynn and family,
I am shocked to hear the news of your loss. I too was blessed to have Michel in my life through work and to call Him friend. We worked closely together, our offices side by side and we shared many laughs which helped us maintain our sanity. He was an incredible person and he spoke often of you all his family with great love and pride. There is no doubt his passion was his family not work. I was never so happy to run into Michel at Home Depot when he told me with a big smile and glint in his eye about his life in retirement – living it exactly as planned travelling the world – the count at that point was 35 countries. I am sure Michel touched many more hearts in the world during your travels just like he touched mine. He was one of the best people I’ve ever known and his time has come far too soon, however Michel will always be loved and never forgotten. I unfortunately am unable to be with you at Michels celebration of life and I am sending you my sincere condolences, love and strength to help you all through this most difficult time.

Michel was one of the first people I met in Shell outside Sarnia and, like many others, remember his positivity in the midst of a lot of challenging events. Hi Lynn,

Carolyn and I were so saddened to hear of Michel’s passing. We no idea that he was ill but knowing him, I’m sure that he probably wouldn’t want to burden others.

Bubbles was my mentor, my favorite boss, but best of all, my friend. I’ll always treasure my memories of his great humour, our many car pool conversations, his leadership of the crazy automation group at MER, and his making it possble for my transfer to the Technology Transfer group in Calgary.

Unfortunately we’re in Ottawa at the moment negotiating my 92 year old mother’s move to Cochrane so will be unable to attend Michel’s service. Please accept our heartfelt condolences and know that our thoughts are with you and your family at this time.

Dear Lynn, Michael, Angela and family,

Our sincerest condolences with the passing of Denis, and at such a young age.

I got to know him as Michel, and quickly learned that he was the best boss I ever had. He gently guided us to do the required work needed to reach Shell’s goals. I was always very impressed with his negotiation skills where everyone ended up in a win-win situation.

Michel and I were early starters. I made the first pot of strong coffee, and we enjoyed our first cup together while chatting about our families, work history, etc..

In later years our early morning chat was often about woodworking, our projects, and how to deal with woodworking challenges. That was also the time when Michel became Denis.

Unfortunately, retirement caused us to drift apart, but I did get to see several of his woodworking projects, and Denis certainly excelled in that too.

We will always remember Denis, and wish you strength in this difficult time.

    With love, Pieter and Jeannette
