Mary Chalmers, beloved wife of John (Jack) Chalmers passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday June 1, 2012 at the age of 76 years.
Mary was born on the family farm in Lundbreck, Alberta and went to grade school there. She attended high school in Pincher Creek. Married to Jack since 1955, she enjoyed her life as a homemaker and a stay-at-home mom until 1971. During that time, she was active in the North Glenmore Park Community Association including Brownies and Girl Guides. Her passions were her family, gardening, photography, baking and sewing. In 1975, Mary earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Business and enjoyed her career as a Human Resources professional in the oil industry. She took early retirement from Amoco Canada in 1991.
Mary is survived by her husband Jack Chalmers; daughters Deb Chalmers-Bushe (Peter Bushe), Carole Chalmers (Mark Crossfield) and Susan Chalmers (Chad Shelton); granddaughters Amy Mielke (Paul), Lindsay Babkov (Alex), Claire and Rachel Crossfield; and great-granddaughters Calliah and Gabriella Mielke, as well as, numerous friends and relatives.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family would like to thank the team of health care professionals at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and the Rockyview General Hospital (ICU and Unit 84) including Dr. Voroney, Dr. Warshawski and Dr. LaBrie.
