CARR, Avis (Kermack)

September 23, 1920 – November 30, 2012

Early in the morning of November 30, 2012, at the age of 92, Avis peacefully passed over to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and a joyous reunion with her daughter.

Avis dropped in (almost literally) to this world on September 23, 1920 at the Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary Alberta. She spent most of her childhood in both Leslieville and Calgary. During the Depression, Avis and her family went back to Scotland where they resided with her Grandparents on their sheep farm in the Glenprosen region. She recalls her time in Scotland as some of her fondest memories playing with and taking care of the baby lambs. One year later they returned to Canada. Avis found what made her truly happy and that was her time with horses. Avis had many smiles, miles, and adventures while in the saddle of her horse King.

As a young lady she joined the Canadian Navy where she became a WREN. Stationed on the East Coast of Canada, she had many memories and adventures while in the Navy. During this time she met her husband Jack. In 1947, Avis gave birth to the love of her life, Sandra Ann Jensen. They resided in Lethbridge from 1951, where Avis worked as a Librarian while raising Sandra.

Her last years in Lethbridge were blessed with her niece Diane’s love and nurturing. Avis leaves behind her son-in-law Richard Jensen; her niece Diane Meszaros; her two grandchildren Dean Jensen & Michelle Lukas; and her five great-grandchildren, Jennalee, Braydon, Rieley, Emrey, Hadley; and brother George Kermack. Avis was predeceased by her daughter Sandra Jensen, parents William and Margaret Kermack, sister Margaret King and baby brother Ian Kermack.

A Celebration of Avis Carr’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 1:00p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through
