July 3, 1934 – Govan, SK
December 29, 2013 – Calgary, AB
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Carlson on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the age of 79 years.
Mom was an avid sports fan, particularly hockey where she spent countless hours in the stands watching three sons and then grandkids compete. She was also a tireless knitter and if not making something for her own family or friends would knit clothes and donate them to charity. In the months prior to Christmas she would buy a large number of dolls and teddy bears and make clothes for them and donate them to children’s charities. Her former employer Suncor was so impressed with what she was doing that they contributed funds for materials so more under privileged children would receive something for Christmas.
Marg is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years Eldon; sons, Donovan (Roxanne), Kevin (Susan), and Robert (Virgie); and grandchildren, Graig, Laura, Danielle, Sarah, and Kirby. She is also survived by a sister Linda; and brothers, Don (Delores) and Jed (Betty); along with numerous nieces and nephews. Also left to mourn are special friends, Marg, Dana and Darrin Torrie.
Marg was predeceased by daughter Lori Anne; parents Alex and Elsie; and sister Dorinne.
A Private Family Service was held. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to Children’s Cottage Society. The family would like to thank the staff at the Carewest Sarcee Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.
In living memory of Margaret Carlson, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, Telephone: 403-276-2296.Print This Obituary & Condolences
