August 24, 1942 – March 21, 2012
A very special lady, Lynnetta Campbell passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 after a very short but courageous battle with cancer at the age of 69 years.
Lynne was born in Medicine Hat, AB on August 24, 1942. She married James (Jim) A. Campbell on October 14, 1961. In 1962 they moved to Calgary and shortly there after Jim joined the ATCO Group and Lynne became part of the ATCO family for over 40 years where she made many lasting friendships. She also enjoyed meeting people from around the world at events held at Spruce Meadows. Upon Jim’s retirement in 2004 they made Palm Desert California their second home where they developed new friendships and shared special times with family, friends and relatives. During her lifetime Lynne was an avid curler and golfer. She was currently a member of the Redwood Meadows Golf and Country Club as well as a member of the Mountain Vista Golf and Country Club in Palm Desert. Lynne had many interests including biking, walking, reading, gardening, cooking and most importantly taking care of her family. She cherished her grandchildren and loved keeping in touch with them even when it involved texting.
Lynne was kind, thoughtful, loving, caring and very supportive towards her family and friends. Lynne, a pillar of strength for her family often was the leader of family events. Being naturally energetic and a multi-tasker extraordinaire, Lynne was the first to volunteer always offering support, advice and guidance.
Left to cherish Lynne’s memory is her loving husband Jim; daughters Barb (Gil) Delaurier and Kari (Martin) Herrington; grandchildren Ryan Delaurier (Farrah Robinson), Krystal (Shawn) Schellenberg and Nikki Herrington; her mother Lurline Goodfellow; sister Sue (Jim) Little; as well as aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her father Amos Goodfellow in 2009; brother-in-law Bill Campbell in 1984; mother-in-law Margaret Campbell in 1996; father- in-law Hugh (Linwood) Campbell in 2006; and brother-in-law Hugh Campbell in 2010.
Special thanks to Dr. Wally J. Temple for his friendship, professionalism and the extra care and attention he provided to Lynne. Special thanks also to Dr. Scot Dowden and all the staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre who cared for, encouraged and supported Lynne during her difficult time. Lynne will always be loved, remembered and missed by all who knew her.
