CALBERRY, Kenneth (Ken) George

November 10, 1937 – Grande Prairie, Alberta
September 1, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta

Ken Calberry, beloved husband of Joan Calberry (nee Elliott) of Calgary passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017 at the age of 79 years.

Ken was a firefighter for over thirty-four years, before retiring as District Chief with the City of Calgary.

Besides his loving wife, Ken is also survived by his daughters, Darlene Wheeler and Marcy Calberry; his son Jeff (Julianne) Calberry; his grandchildren, Scott Shields and his 2 children, Amanda Shields and her 4 children, Andrew Calberry, Skye Calberry, Clayton Calberry, Margaret (Maggie) Calberry, Trevor Arlint, and Eleanor Arlint; his great-grandchildren, Paedra and Atley; his sisters, Phyllis and Diane; and his dog Nikki, his loyal and trusted companion that was always by his side.

Ken was predeceased by his son Dale Calberry.

A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

  2. I am saddened to hear the news of Ken’s passing. My first hall was #8 and Ken was a Lieutenant there. He always treated me with great respect and I truly appreciated him as a colleague and friend. One thing I will always remember is shortly after I started Ken taught me how to make his clam chowder. I still make Ken’s clam chowder to this day and it is the best clam chowder recipe I have ever had. My condolences to the family.
