March 17, 1930 – December 31, 2012
Keith passed away peacefully at the Agape Care Center on Monday, December 31, 2012 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Keith spent his formative years in Swift Current articling with Wik, Jeffery, Stark and Millard, C.A.’s. Keith and Nalda were married in Shaunavon, SK in 1954. They then moved to Calgary, AB in 1957. Keith was practicing with Ballard, Burns, Halpin & Co., CA’s. Co-developing Mabel Lake Estates with Jim Adamson, a Dealer Principal of Red Deer Toyota, and President of Lap TECH Systems were other projects. He was a Chartered Member of N. Calgary Rotary, Past President of North Hill Business Club, Director of Calgary Winter Club and member of the Silver Springs Golf and Country Club. He was proud of his “Hole in One” at “Priddis Greens”. The “Homers and Roamers” Annual Golf Meet kept him in touch with his “Speedy Creek” friends. Keith and Nalda enjoyed travels to Japan with the Toyota dealership among many other trips. He was well respected in all of his endeavours and his sense of humour was appreciated by his friends and clients.
He is survived by his wife Nalda; his daughters Debbie (Grant) Thomas, Nancy (Dan) Bradich; his son Greg (Christine) Burns; grandchildren Jaylee (Dallas) Nickel, Jessica (Michael) Cooke, and Stephen Thomas, Christopher and Marissa Bradich, Samantha and Stephanie Burns. Other family members, Kay Mugleston, Gail and Henry Fehr of Regina and Terry (Shirley) Burns of Bemidji, MN; Sister-in-law Ann Studer (Wally) of Kelowna, B.C., and Dean and Brenda were always gracious hosts.
Keith was predeceased by his parents Alice and Gordon Burns; four sisters; two brothers; and his Uncles John and Todd Currie.
A Celebration of Life is planned at Silver Springs Golf Club around his “Irish” Birthday. A private service will be held at Queen’s Park Columbarium at a later date. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial donations can be made to the Prep Program, A Resource Center for Down Syndrome (2004 – 12 Avenue N.W. Calgary, AB T2N 1J7). Thank you to the Home Care Team for their care and Dr. Reuther and staff for their efforts on his behalf.
He cheated death twice and fought all the way, and we are grateful for that. You can comment about his energy, his optimism, his steadfast to principals, his likability and the caring he showed for everyone he met.
In living memory of Keith Burns, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot Chapel, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. Telephone: (403) 241-0044.

Nalda and Family:
Please accept our sincere condolences. We had a lovely visit with Keith and you when we were in Calgary two summers ago. We enjoyed your hospitality and your lovely views over the golf course. Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.
Nalda and family,
Barry and I send our sincere condolences on the passing of Keith and keeping you in our thoughts.
Hi Nalda – We were very sorry to hear of Keith’s passing. Although we have not stayed in contact, we have fond memories of times we did spend together. The obituary described very well the man that we remember! Take care.
Nancy,
Please accept our deepest sympathy to you and your family. I had only met your Dad a few times Nancy but his great sense of humour will be sorely missed I’m sure. Take care of Naida and we’ll see you guys soon.
