BURFORD – Alice Florence (nee Clachrie)

January 23, 1922 – September 26, 2010

Alice passed peacefully and gently into the arms of her Lord on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at the age of 88 years.

She was predeceased by her parents Alexander and Lillian Clachrie of Calgary. Alice is held in loving memory by her husband of sixty-five years Peter; son Gary (Sherry); daughter Karen (Tim); and brother Jim (Eleanor) Clachrie as well a niece and nephew.

Alice was born and raised in Calgary in the Crescent Heights area, attending Balmoral for grade school then graduating from the Tech (ACAE) with a Commercial Art diploma. She worked as a window dresser and sign writer for MacLeod Brothers, Parisian and Christie Grants stores. Alice met Peter in Calgary traveling to Melbourne, Australia in October 1945 aboard the S.S. Matsonia as a war bride. Alice and Peter would return to Calgary a year later, and would continue to travel the world together. Alice has been a member of Crescent Heights Baptist Church for seventy years and the family would like to thank them for their prayers and support. Also heartfelt thanks to CareWest George Boyack Unit #2, North for their humour, professionalism and loving care of Alice.

A Celebration of Alice’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, October 1, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
