BUGG – Helen Genevieve (nee Schmitz)

February 19, 1923 – March 30, 2011

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Peacefully, Mom lost her courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 88. Although in sorrow, we feel a great sense of comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering and that Heaven has welcomed another Angel.

Our Mother was born in Englefeld, Saskatchewan to Agnes and August Schmitz. “Sis” as she was affectionately called by her siblings, had six brothers and two sisters. In 1947, she married our Dad and they spent fifty-two years together and raised four children.
Mom had a very full life; her family always being her utmost priority. She worked tirelessly throughout her life; much of it alongside our Dad in their business ventures. She was both loved and respected by all that had the privilege of knowing her.
Mom was always kind, generous and very forgiving. She always saw the good in everyone, especially her children. Her deep faith in God was a driving force in her life. She would always say “You’ll be in my prayers!”

We take great solace in knowing that she has been reunited with those that passed before her; to include her husband Norman Bugg; her son Brian Bugg; her brothers, Ed, Art and Lorne; sisters Irene and Eleanor; parents Aggie and Augie; and countless members of family, friends and those she touched so dearly throughout her life.

Mom leaves to celebrate her life three daughters, Lynn (Ken), Michele and Donna (David); eight grandchildren, Kevin, Kim, Jared (Freya), Mandi, Leanne, Robyn, Hayley and Alex; six great-granddaughters and one great-grandson; as well as her brothers, Ray, Ralph (Carol) and Jim (Kathy).

A private family service will be held. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to The Alzheimer Society of Alberta and the Northwest Territories, Administrative Office, 10531 Kingsway Avenue, Edmonton AB T5H 4K1. Tel: (1-866) 950-5465, www.alzheimer.ab.ca. A note of gratitude to all at the Mayfair Care Centre. A special extra thanks to Linda and M.J. Your care and kindness for Mom was exceptional.

God bless and keep our beloved Mother in your eternal embrace until we too will join her.

In living memory of Helen Bugg, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.

Dear Lynn, Michele and Donna and Families,

We are sorry to hear of your Mom’s death. I remember her from my growing up years when she and my Mom, Isabelle would get together and have a fine time conversing long into the night. Being cousins and friends they had much to share. We are grateful for how loving your mom was with our mom during her illness and death in 1985. Thank you Lynn for letting me know where she was so I could visit her. We are having a mass said for her and will keep her and all of you in our prayers. Our condolences. Donna and Harvey Widmer and family
