It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Florence “Blackie” Buehler beloved wife of Alvin of Calgary, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Florence was born on March 18, 1932 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan where her mother passed away when she was a child. During World War II, Florence was raised at an orphanage while her father George fought in the war. She was later reunited with her father and his war bride (Rose) in Lethbridge. Florence loved art and painting after retiring and spent every winter at Bashford’s Adult R.V Park in Southern California.
Besides her loving husband Alvin of fifty-eight years, Florence is survived by son Kevin; grandson Michael of Vancouver; granddaughter Denis Measor; and great-great-granddaughter Lily Ann of Edmonton. She is also survived by her half-brothers Roger and Gale Black of Edmonton and Peter Black; and brother-in-law Garth Loxton. Florence was predeceased in July of 2012 by her daughter Karen and was also predeceased by her sisters Jean Loxton and Joy Hodgins.
A Gathering will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
