Thereafter, he became self-employed and was successful in developing several oil discoveries in Alberta. Dick was co-founder of three junior oil companies: L.K. Oil & Gas, Triweb Resources and Webex Oil & Gas. Because of his love of farming, he established a tree farm in Cayley, AB, where he also indulged in his love of tractors. The tree farm is now operated by his son Lorne.

Dick is survived by his sister Ursula Bue of Cabri, Sask., his three sons Don, Gary (Jacky) and their sons Stephen and David, Lorne (Shannon) and his daughter Gaye; several nieces and nephews; Bettie Davison, his good friend and caregiver; and his second wife Gabrielle and her children Michele and Michael (Cathy) Geisler.

Dick was predeceased by his parents Stanley and Daisy, his sister Joan Kurtz, his brother Arthur and his first wife Helen.

  2. To Don,Gary, Lorne and Gaye
The measure of a man’s life is not how long he lived, but the effect he had on people and how he touched them. Shed tears that your Dad is gone, but smile because he lived. Cherish his memory and let it live on and see all that he has left. All of you were his most precious gifts. Do what he would want – smile, love, help and support each other and go on. He is greatly missed. With our deepest sympathy.

  3. Please accept my condolences on the loss of your father – so difficult to lose a parent.

I remember all those summers with your family at Lake Newell, and all the dinners our families shared in Lakeview. Dick was kind enough to attend our dad’s memorial just a few months ago.

Strength to you at this sad time.
