BROWN, Kenneth Arnold

March 14, 1925 – September 19, 2013

Kenneth Brown passed away peacefully in Calgary on September 19, 2013 at the age of 88. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Margaret (nee Beatty), his sons David (Susan Winstanley) and Peter (Gale Wagner), and grandsons Alexander and Geoffrey. He was predeceased by his son Keith.

Ken was proud to be a long-time Calgarian, and loved the city and its surroundings. He was raised by his aunt in a loving family with his brother and sister and four cousins. He was involved in the Scouts both as a boy and an adult, and in camping and cabin-life with his growing family. Condolence Messages

  1. Marg and family

So sorry to hear of Kens passing. He was a great inspiration to me and a good pal when I was a kid. He and Don were my hero’s. We all had really good times at my grandmothers house back then.

Have not seen you guys for many years but have thought of you often.

I guess my most vivid memory of Ken, was he and Don playing catch with me across my grandmothers living room when I was about 2. They were having a good laugh and me too, but my Mom was in the background saying, you two stop that, you could drop him!! And them continuing, laughing all the way! Fun, fun! He also taught me to sing ” Frosty the snowman” for some kindergarten or preschool thing. Did a good job! As I still rmember the words!

I also remember when he got married to his sweetheart which none of us knew very well. She turned out to be a superstar, as you know. All the best to you, again my condolences and good wishes.

Love. Bill Holmes and family, Arizona, etc.

  9. To Marg and Family,

Betty and I were saddened to hear of Ken’s passing. Our sympathies and prayers are with you.

Ken was a pleasure to work with during our years together at Rileys DataShare. He always demonstrated a high regard for his fellow employees while being extremely conscientious in his leadership role in the Log Department. One of the fond memories I have of Ken is the thoughtful planning he provided in designing the layout of the manufacturing floors on the relocation of Rileys to Northeast Calgary.

We will remember Ken for his sense of humour and genuine humility,

    Don and Betty Plewes
