BROWN, Eileen

February 16, 1924 – Calgary, Alberta
November 30, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta

In the presence of loving friends, Eileen passed away peacefully on November 30, 2014.

Eileen was born at the Calgary General Hospital to Fred and Lillian Brown. She received her education in Calgary. After graduation, she worked at Alberta Government Telephones until she was accepted into the School of Nursing at the General Hospital. Once she received her diploma in Nursing, she moved to Edmonton. She had a diversified career in Nursing until 1986. In 1997 she returned to Calgary to be with her sister Doris who died in 2008. Eileen was an avid bird watcher, lover of nature and wildlife and a stalwart friend.

She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Doris as well as her long time soul mate, Lucy Johnson.

At Eileen’s request there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead she would like everyone to drive out into the country – even if it is winter – look up at that blue, blue sky and then think of the many other beautiful vistas that make up the province of Alberta – as we often did. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Eileen Brown, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, Telephone: 403-276-2296.

  1. Kathryn (K.J.) Paton :

I know exactly what she means, when my Aunty Eileen says, “drive out into the country – even if it is winter – look up at the blue, blue sky and then think of the beautiful vistas that make up the province of Alberta – as we often did.” Yes, we did admire that blue, blue sky and the birds in it. And I remember the blue sweater Aunt Lucy knit me for Christmas that was Alberta sky blue, and the bird necklace you brought me back from Hawaii, and the Ray Salt bird sketches from your beautiful sister Aunt Doris. Godspeed, you will always be in my heart. Love, your KJ
