August 8, 1964 – December 10, 2009
Penny Melinda Brown of Calgary passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at the age of 45 years.
Penny was born in East York and lived in the Toronto area until moving to Alberta in 1972. She had a quirky sense of humour and a laugh that will be missed by everyone. Penny loved animals, travelling, flower arranging, that “purple stuff”, and Mexican food. She was very creative with an artistic flare. Penny’s keen sense of smell served her well in her work with fragrances.
Penny is survived by her children, Cory and Rudy and their father Evan of Calgary; her father William and Mary; stepbrother Shaun and Jocelyn and their children, Lauren and Chase; nephew and niece Justin and Allyshia Bowers; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, especially her good friends, Denise, Teresa, Emma, Sandy, Dee Dee, Kathy, and Guy, as well as her beloved Moe. Penny was predeceased by her mother Jessie, sister Reva and brother David.
The family wish to extend a special thanks and gratitude to Unit 57, Dr. M. Webster and Nancy and to all the staff at the Southwood Hospice for providing such loving care and comfort. Your acts of kindness did not go unnoticed.
A Celebration of Penny’s life will be held at McKenzie Lake Beach Club (16199 McKenzie Lake Way S.E.) on Thursday, January 7, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to The Calgary Humane Society, 4455 – 110th Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2C 2T7, Telephone: (403)205-4455, www.calgaryhumane.ca. Offer Condolence for the family of BROWN – Penny Melinda (nee Bowers)

To Cory, Rudy and Evan,
Thinking of you during this time. Hold on to your memories and be strong for each other.

The Ards
To Bill and Mary,
We are truly saddened by Penny’s passing. Time and again we stumble for words and actions that will reflect our feelings of compassion and our desire to be of comfort. We think how fruitless any words of ours may be. But our sincere wish is that you find some solace in this simple and humble note and that it will help release some measure of your pain of loss.

Dear Bill and Mary
It was of the greatest of shocks to hear of the news of Penny. I was merely looking for contacts on FaceBook to see if she was on-line. All of a sudden I got the urge to see how you were coping with the loss of David. When Mary told me of Penny, I had a rare and uncontrollable melt down. God speed Bill. She is out of pain now.
