December 27, 1928 – July 27, 2010
Survived by husband Jack, daughter Jane Frohlick (Gord), sons John (Louise), Mike (Patricia), Peter (Debra), Paul (Diana), Dave (Alice) and Doug (Morgan), sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren, she slipped away quietly and peacefully. Mary Lou spent the last three weeks of her life surrounded by Jack, her children and grandchildren and quietly listened and enjoyed the stories and adventures of her family and her life, enthusiastically recounted by her loved ones. From tears to laughter, joy to sadness, chaos and commotion to calmness, her final days were precious to all and a testament to the strength and determination she exhibited her whole life. Mary Lou, daughter of Laurence and Elizabeth Coy, spent her early years growing up in Regina and at the family cottage at B-Say-Tah Point. In her youth she was an accomplished figure skater and tennis player. After marrying the love of her life, Jack, she dedicated her life to raising a family of seven children, and her passions were her husband, her family and her friends. Her warmest memories were of summers, weekends and time spent at B-Say-Tah, and later in life she enjoyed many winters in Palm Springs. Missed but never forgotten, a piece of Mary Lou will always be carried in the hearts of her friends and family. She was a special mom, grandma, and great grandma, and a loyal friend. The family would like to thank Mary Lou’s care-givers, Dr. Dargie, and the nursing staff of Ward 82 at Rockyview Hospital, for their kindness and compassionate care of Mary Lou. A private family service will be held in honour of Mary Lou. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation would be graciously appreciated.
