May 30, 1944 – March 11, 2012
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Sharon Louise Brittain at the age of 67 years. Sharon left us Sunday morning, March 11, 2012 at the Foothills Hospital after a long hard battle against a number of medical issues.
Sharon was born in Red Deer on May 30, 1944 and graduated from the Calgary General Hospitals’ Nursing Program in the early sixties, She spent most of her life working in various medical fields from nursing to homecare, and was a wealth of knowledge and information for many with questions regarding health. She was an avid reader and loyal pet lover.
Sharon is survived by her sisters Phyllis and Pat of Cochrane and Innisfail respectively, as well as her brother Robert (Bob) of Edmonton. Sharon also leaves behind her daughter Lorelei (Brian), son Craig, and her granddaughter Taylor who brought her much joy these past thirteen years. Sharon will be missed by several nieces and nephews as well as by many friends that were met along the way. Sharon was predeceased by both her mother, Alice Myrtle Willett of Wetaskawin, Alberta, as well as her father Francis (Frank) Leslie Willett from Richmond, Quebec. Also leaving this life before Sharon passed on were several Willett brothers and sisters, her past husband Gary Brittain and Sharon’s long term partner James (Jimmy) Merritt.
Sharon will always be remembered as a woman of strength, courage, resilience and compassion. A sister, a mother, a wife and a grandmother, may she now join those who have missed her and allow us the beauty of her memory.
