Vincent Breaker beloved husband of Jessica of Calgary, passed away suddenly on Tuesday January 28, 2014 at the age of 42 years.
Vincent Lee Octave (Anaquod) Breaker was born January 7th, 1972 at the Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary. He started school in the fall of 1976 at the Morley Community School. In the fall of 1977, he started Grade 1 at Marieval Community School in Marieval, Saskatchewan. When the family moved back to Alberta in 1979, Vince attended Westmount School in Strathmore. Vince was an academic student and won many academic awards as he went through school. He graduated with honors from Strathmore High School in 1989. In his graduating year he went on a high school trip to Europe with his buddies Skip Wolf Leg and Durwin Many Heads, and had many stories to tell about their experiences. He enrolled in SAIT in the Drafting & Design program, and worked as an apprentice at Graham & Edmunds in Calgary. He then attended the University of Calgary where he attained his B.Sc. Chemical Engineer Degree in 1999.
He sacrificed a lot for his schooling and went on to work in the oil industry for many years as an Engineer with Syncrude Canada, Canadian Natural Resources, Synenco Energy, Imperial Oil Limited (Houston, Texas), Shell Canada and most recently Suncor Energy Services Canada as a Project Integration Engineer. Vince also worked for Siksika Resource Development Limited as an Energy Resource Manager. Vince was a well-liked and well-respected member of the Suncor Energy team and his positive nature and great sense of humour will be greatly missed.
Vince was out going, humorous, and genuine. He loved nothing more than welcoming friends and family into his home, barbequing and sharing a hearty laugh. He was an avid long distance runner in his younger days and ran for the Deerfoot Raiders. Vince played his minor hockey in the towns of Grayson, SK, Strathmore, Gleichen, Indus, and Rockyford. He then played Junior hockey in the city of Calgary, and played rec hockey with the West End Rangers. He ended his career with the Siksika Buffaloes. Vince loved the outdoors. Hunting and golfing were amongst his favorite outdoor activities. He enjoyed working on the farm and ranch. Despite his travels due to work commitments his heart was always remained with his family in Calgary, in the North, in Montana and at Siksika Nation.
Vincent is survived by his wife Jessica; daughter Isabella; sons Brandon and Gabriel; stepdaughter Aysha; his parents Robert Jr. and Audrey; brothers, Douglas (Danielle), Shane (Tiffany), Darcy (Clover) Anaquod, and Aaron Anaquod; sisters Jerilynn and Lori Ann (Floyd) Anaquod Pelletier; and adopted sister Francine Melting Tallow (Brooks); nieces, Sarah, Erin, Faith, Elizabeth, Alexis and Kiaora; nephews, Lance, Max, Michael, Harrison, Brayson, and Liam. Vince is also survived by his paternal grandparents Robert Sr. and Rosalyn Breaker; maternal grandmother Bertha Martineau Parenteau; and numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his grandfather Octave Parenteau ; Uncle Stanley Parenteau ; his cousin Mason Breaker; Uncles Willard and Glen Anaquod; Aunt Connie Langan; and his biological father Lawrence Anaquod.
Wake Services will be held at the residence of Robert Jr. and Audrey Breaker’s Residence, Siksika Nation, AB on Friday January 31, 2014 at 6:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church Siksika Nation, AB on Saturday February 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Paul Little Walker Cemetery (Siksika Nation, AB). Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
