Nicholas Clark Breaker of Siksika Nation passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2007 at the age of 39 years.
Nicholas was born on May 2, 1967. He had a vibrant personality and was very outgoing and loved by everyone who knew him. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree with honours from the U of C in 2003, majoring in history. He was also a member of the U of C Alumni. Nick as everyone knew him was involved in various events in the community of Siksika. He was an avid culturist and took pride in his knowledge of the traditional way of his people, participating in Pow Wows and Sundances. Nick was successful in carrying on his late grandfather’s dream (Chief Leo Youngman) of re-gathering the traditional sacred Sundance Societies. He started up the Bee and Mosquito Societies for all the children of Siksika where his adoptive son Kyle was initiated as a leader of the Bee Society. Nick was a member of the Calgary Stampede and the 1987 Young Canadians. He was also an active volunteer for the Siksika Minor Hockey Association and the Siksika Youth Awareness Week (Run As One). He was a proud supporter of the Calgary PSA Mustangs Hockey Club (Esso Minor Hockey Week and City Champs). Nick also carried the role of Youth Chief for Siksika as well as other roles such as an Altar Boy and MC for various functions.
