Gunter Brabender, beloved husband of Elisabeth (Marliese) Brabender (nee Sieger) of Calgary, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015 at the age of 76 years.
Born in Bedburg, Germany, Günter met the love of his life, Marliese, in the neighboring town of Kaster and they married in 1958. They immigrated to Calgary, Canada in 1961, a decision they never regretted.
Günter spent years as a millwright at Prudential Steel until his retirement at age 53. His retirement goal was to sleep on every continent which he achieved with their trip to Antarctica in 2005. Günter was known for his love of cars particularly his silver Corvette which he drove at high speeds.
Günter is survived by his spouse of fifty-six years, Marliese; his sister Erika Wilkomm; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Vinzenz and Margate Brabender.
