BOYCHUK, Victor (Vic)

August 29, 1930 – April 11, 2012

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and friend Vic.

Born and married in Regina, Vic and Marge settled in Calgary with their family in 1969. He was highly respected in the oil and gas industry, his word and hand shake were his bond. Fierce pride and loyalty throughout his life made Vic a man who was truly admired by all. It was his nature to ensure that everyone in his presence was having a good time. The party always started at the 19th hole! Vic’s passion for Marge, his family, friends, sports, love and laughter was deeply sincere.

We take comfort that Dad is now free from disease and is able to soar with the birds he so loved at his desert home. We are forever grateful for the medical support and all the efforts from countless friends.

Vic is survived by his loving wife Marge; his daughters, Pam (Stu), Tracy and Margo (Bill); and son Brad. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Matthew, Lindsey, Danielle, Abigail and Griffin; and his sister Loreena of Regina. He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Sophia; his brothers Jim and Ed; and many of his life long friends.

A Celebration of Vic’s life will be held at Willow Park Golf and Country Club (639 Willow Park Drive S.E.) on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the A.L.S. Society of Alberta & Northwest Territories (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), Suite 250, 4723 – 1 Street S.W., Calgary, AB T2G 4Y8, www.alsab.ca.

In living memory of Victor Boychuk, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.

    Marge & Family;

I am so saddened by your loss. Vic was so special, in so many ways. He always had a big smile and a hug for me, when he would come into Vipco. He has always held a special place in my heart and a very special place in mom’s heart. I am glad he is no longer hurting and finally at peace.

May you try to find comfort in each other at this time. Know that he was truly too good for Earth so God took him home.

    Love Always, Connie Anderson

Marge: May Dolcie and I express our sincere condolences to you and your family in the loss of Vic. I shall forever cherish the lifelong friendship of my fellow Ukrainian “Vic”;from pre kindergarten, to our times together at Wetmore and Balfour Technical Schools in Regina. Dolcie and I really enjoyed Vic and your many recent visits to Regina where we gathered at Vic’s brother Eddy’s place reminiscing with friends about earlier years in Regina. We were excited to join you and Vic for your 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration in Calgary. Take care Marge – we shall see you.

The world has lost one of the “great guys”. Vic and Marg were such wonderful friends to our parents Earl and Gerry Teed. We remember fondly many parties in Willowpark over the years and it wasn’t a party without Vic! The love between Marg and Vic is one to be admired and emulated. They stood as a team through good and bad. To know you have loved and been loved so well will bring you such comfort Marg. To the kids and grandkids – your dad/grandfather was so proud of all of you – he will always be there for you. Rest Easy Vic

    Dear Boychuk Family,
I was so sad to hear of Vic’s passing. What a FABULOUS Guy. He treated me like I was one of the family and I very much appreciated that. Jim and I will really miss him at the tailgate get togethers. He made a delicious beef broth for when it was cold. So generous and kind. One thing I will NEVER forget is our tailgate party at Alison’s wedding in Nanton. NO ONE had a better time than the group of us.
(Vic, Marge, Pam & Stu, Tracy,Brad, Jim and I) Even though he is not here in body I choose to remember him as as Angel and God is lucky to have.
    All of Love,
    Jim and Tracy
Give our best to Isobel, Ralph and Peter.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. When I told mom of Vic’s passing, her first words were “Vic was a very special and kind man just like his beautiful wife Marge”. She said it was always nice to walk down the street in Willowpark and visit with her fellow neighbors the “Boychuks!” We hope you find strength and peace in the days ahead.
