Ivy Maud Boychuk (nee Phillips) of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the age of 89 years. We are very grateful for the care of Dr. Shergill and all the nursing staff of Unit 23.
Ivy was born in Ammanford, South Wales and immigrated to Canada with her family at the age of 4. Her youth was spent in Saunders, AB. She married Paul, living in Nordegg, Mercoal, Hinton before settling in Calgary in the spring of 1959. Her career of wife, mother, grandmother and friend was interspersed with several jobs. She was an avid sports fan especially of hockey, football and loved to play bingo.
Ivy is survived by children, Margaret, Clifford (Jo-Anne), Shirley, Robert (Kathy), and Travis (Beth); grandchildren, Deeann (Westley), Wade (Heather), Shelley, Lisa (Paul), Angela (Kevin), Shawn, Jason (Krystal), Candace (Adam), Jessica, Daniel, Cindy (Clint), and Adam (Chelsea); great-grandchildren, Justin, Crystal, Rebecca, Cody, Bobbi-Lynn, Kelsey, Nathan, Melissa, Ivy (Sunisa), Amber, Kaitlin, Jordan, Kashis, Emma, Brianna, and Sophia; and sisters-in-law, Katie, Lena, Deanne (Hank), and Colleen. She will also be greatly missed by Marj, Mary, Angelina, Bill, Eileen, many extended family and friends.
Ivy was predeceased by her husband Paul of sixty-seven years; her parents William and Emily; brothers, Thomas, William, Cyril and Douglas; son-in-law Marvin; grandchild James; sisters-in-law, Pearl, Nell, Anna, Louisa; and brothers-in-law, Joseph, Raymond, Clarence, Andrew.
A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
