May 5, 1925 – March 17, 2014
Robert James Law (Bob) Borland, beloved husband of Joan Borland, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014 at the age of 88 years.
Besides his loving wife Joan, Bob is remembered by his two daughters Susan (Randy) Kolibaba of Vernon, B.C. and their children Jason and Jennifer (Tyler); Lori (Brad) Hodge of Calgary and their children Tyler, Curtis and Casey, and all the pets he loved.
Bob was born in Winnipeg, MB and soon after moved with his parents to Calgary where he began his childhood in Elbow Park. On June 16, 1951, 62 years ago, he married the love of his life, Joan Ough, and they moved to Wildwood and later to Coach Hill. Bob went from an insurance adjuster, company employee, to owning his own successful brokerage until he sold it in 1984. He loved to golf at the Calgary Golf and Country Club, was an active member for over 75 years at the Glencoe and enjoyed the fellowship in the Masonic Lodge for over 60 years. Bob, after retirement, had more time to be even more active in the community volunteering at the 1988 Olympics, cooking pancakes at Stampede Breakfasts and also driving cancer patients to their appointments. Bob and Joan enjoyed travelling with his “party time suitcase” all over the world including the winters they spent golfing in Arizona.
The family would like to send a special thanks to everyone in the Colonel Belcher who cared for and loved “Bobbie” as your own.
