Surrounded by his loving family, Chic Bombardieri beloved husband of Bess passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at 92.
Chic was born and raised in Calgary, served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1938 to 1945 and received his BSc. and MSc. from the University of Alberta and his PhD. from McGill. He was employed by Esso Resources for many years. Chic was a member of the Glencoe Club and the Esso Resources Annuitants Club. Chic loved the outdoors and was an avid hiker and cross country skier with the 5th Dimension, the M & M as well as the Esso Annuitants Outdoors Clubs. Chic was also a long time member of the Calgary Concert Band. Dad loved learning, life, music, people, being active in the world and his family.
Chic is survived by his loving wife Bess, three children Sandra (Henrik) Johansen of Maryland, Robert of Calgary, David (Linda) and two grandchildren Lauren and Nicholas of Edmonton as well as one sister Anna Smith and one brother Alfred Bombardieri both of Vancouver, sister-in-law Phyllis Ziegler, brother-in-law Joe Vassallo, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Guiseppe and Caterina, his siblings; Rose (Vassallo), Victor, William, Angela (Fulton), David and Octavio.
A Celebration of Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service will be on a later date at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
