BLOW, Sylvia Irene

April 15, 1936-Pouce Coupe, B.C.
June 2, 2013 – Calgary, AB.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mom, grandma, and great-grandma Sylvia Blow on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at the Agape Hospice at the age of 77 years. Mom gave a courageous battle against cancer for the past year and a half.

Sylvia enjoyed gardening, baking, camping, fishing, walking her dog (Max), the occasional trip to the casino; and most of all treasured time with family and friends. We shared mom with the world. She loved life; her vibrant positive personality was contagious. For over forty years she was an active member of the Montgomery Ladies Club; and with this wonderful group of women raised thousands of dollars for local charities.

Sylvia will be lovingly remembered by her children, Brenda ( Vic) Hodges and Ron (Tracy) Blow; four grandchildren, Ronnie (Amanda) Blow, Tony ( Elysse) Stiles, Brittany ( Jordan) Hebbes, and Amanda (Jeffrey) Clovis; two great-grandchildren Teesa and Nevaeh; her sister, Bea Marshall; brother-in-law Gordon Blow; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Sylvia’s life will be held at the Montgomery Community Association (5003 16 Ave N.W) on Monday, June 10, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.. Condolences may be forwarded through The family wish to thank Dr. Falk and the amazing compassionate staff at the Agape Hospice; also a thank you to Stewart for giving mom all the special treats. If friends so desire memorial tributes can be made directly to the Salvation Army Agape Hospice, 1302 8th Ave. NW , Calgary, AB. Telephone 403-282-6588

  5. Wendy Smith (Grimm) :

Brenda and Ron, I was so sorry to hear about your mom’s passing. She was my favourite customer at the Royal Bank in Montgomery and I believe her favourite teller as she always told me so. Even though we lost touch over the years, I heard about her through other friends and my own family who knew your mom. I will always remember her as a kind, wonderful person and I will miss her dearly.
