BLOMME, Larry Frank

1942 – Regina, SK
2013 – Calgary, AB

Larry Frank Blomme beloved husband of Maria of Calgary, passed away after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at the age of 70 years.

Larry will be forever remembered for his incredible love for his family and his passionate ministry for Our Lady leading pilgrimages to Medjugorje for over twenty-seven years. His enthusiasm for traveling and meeting people all over the world allowed him unique experiences including camel riding, scuba-diving, parasailing and eventually getting his own pilot license. Larry accomplished everything he put his mind to, having a strong work ethic and even stronger opinion. His zeal for his faith empowered him to share his convictions everywhere he went. He was his happiest when he was praying before the Blessed Sacrament. We all love him and he will be missed but we know he is truly happy, as he could not wait to get to heaven.

Larry is surviced by his children and his grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church (1414 Shawnessy Boulevard S.W.) on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to Larry’s favourite charity, the orphanage Mother’s Village in Medjugorje, The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation and thanks to the amazing nurses especially Sue, Sarah and Linda of the Palliative Home Care Team.

There was no one better to share his love of Mother Mary than Larry. His pilgrimages opened hearts and minds to the miracle of love that Mother Mary ask of us. This would not be possible if Larry hadn’t been the guide in this role. Maria and Family our hearts and prayers are with you during this difficult time and once again, Larry we know that you now have the privilege of seeing our holy mother face to face. Let her be your guide in paradise!

    Dear Maria and family,

Our deepest and sincere sympathy to you on the passing of Larry. We as well had the opportunity to work with Larry on a few trips to Medjugorje and always enjoyed them. Larry brought many people back to Our Lord and His Blessed Mother. Larry will truly be joyful to be in her presence, and as well as praying before the Living Blessed Sacrament in a new and briliant way.

I recall the last words he said to me and I now direct them to him. “You are a good Man.”

    May he rest in Peace.
