Kathleen Elizabeth Blaxley of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the age of 90 years.
Born in Hwei-an, China in 1924 to medical missionaries Dr. George Reynolds and Annie Gertude Turner, Kathleen was the youngest of nine children. Trained in nursing during the London Blitz of WWII, some evenings were spent caring for patients in the bomb shelter. She married John Blaxley in 1951 and they immigrated to Canada. Kathleen lived and worked in Edmonton until 1974, having three sons: Robert (Brenda), William, and David (Minae). From 1974 until the present she resided in the Calgary area. An avid owner of dogs her entire life, Kathleen found great joy with her pets. She was a Life Master at Contract Bridge, with a keen competitive spirit. She enjoyed playing card games of all kinds, especially with her grandchildren: Anna, Arthur, Ken, Lisa and Adelaida. Kathleen travelled the world and relished new experiences.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Mark and St. Philip Anglican Church (1802 – 33 Avenue S.W.) on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
