  3. Les and Carroll Harding :

The “Hardings” from Montreal would like to extend to the Blakely family our sincere condolences on the passing of Marvin.
This was a no nonsense man of conviction who in 1970 gave me the opportunity to enter the fabulous world of education.I still have his letter of engagement signed by Marvin in his capacity as “Director of Personnel”for the North Island Regional School Board.
The letter was signed in his “infamous” blue ink.
To all the Blakely clan especially my “fishin” buddy DALE—dance, laugh, tell stories. Marvin would like that.

Having learned from Marven’s brother Byron of his passing, on behalf of the congregation of St. Mark’s United Church, Douglastown, NB (Byron’s home church, we want to send our condolences and offer our prayers to you, Marven’s family.

It was a pleasure meeting Marven when he visited the Miramichi and was able to attend worship with his brother. Marven had the opportunity to renew friendships with some he had not seen for some time as well as enjoy visiting places around this river where he held in his heart many fond memories.

Please know that as Marven’s obituary is noted in our service time tomorrow we will hold your family in our prayers even though distance does not permit us to express our sadness in person.

May God comfort you and care for you through the expressions of love offered in a variety of ways at this most difficult time.

Very sorry to learn this sad news. I taught at LTMHS. Remembering the wonderful job that Marvin did with the reunion when the old High School on 14th Avenue closed and we moved to new school. The reunion was a success and it brought back many memories! May Marvin rest in peace, his work is done here.

  11. My deepest condolences to Marven Blakely’s wife and family on the his sad demise. Marven and I were colleagues for several years in two sucessive school boards until Marven retired. I will always cherish my memories of Marven as a gentleman of tremendous integrity, soft-spoken and kind, but firm in his professional and administrative roles. He was always kind to me and in his own inimitable ways mentored me through complex issues. His sense of humour in such contexts was a treat and a balm of immeasurable proportions. I will never forget his gentle and imposing personality as he would enter a room and greet everyone with a smile and a quiet`hello everyone.` He was a highly regarded administrator and professional at all levels of the two school boards and at the Ministry of Education.
The memories of my years with Marven abound. I wish him peace and tranquility in his after life and pray for a place for him in God`s domain reserved for the kind, gentle and vastly accomplished people who did so much to better the personal and professional lives of those they touched.

  12. Mr. Blakely, as I knew him as my Grade 10 and 11 teacher at Lake of Two Mountains High School in 1956-58, was a great educator. Sorry to hear the news but it is good to know that he had a lengthy period of retirement. I hope he enjoyed it as much as I am mine.

To the beloved Blakely family, I extend my warm regards and comfort in this seeming loss. Marvin was a wondrous support in my Math teaching career and always a pleasure to work with. I enjoyed this practical person with a great sense of humor and I respected his expertise a great deal. Marvin, as a mathematician, knew that energy never dies – it just gets transformed. So may the Light of his transformation be with you always.
I send you a big hug Dale and know that you are kept in my prayers.

My deepest sympathy on the passing of your Dad.

Without his help as Director of Personnel for NIRSB, I would not have gotten my first teaching position at Western Laval HS.

The Irish tell us to “praise the young and they blossom”….Mr. Blakely did exactly that and I am proud to have been a small part of his life.

Your Dad will be in my prayers tonight.
