Dobby Bissell passed away with his family by his side at the Foothills Hospital at the age of 79.
He is survived by his wife Jean of fifty-nine years; children, Stephen (Karen), Judy (Lee), and Garvie; also five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Dobby is also survived by his brother Gerald and sister Audrey. He will be sadly missed by many extended family, friends and associates.
Graduating from the University of Alberta with a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (1963) and practicing in the Calgary area for 34 years before retiring to Fauquier, BC, Dobby was always busy building the family home and barn, renovating the cabin and handcrafting beautiful western saddles and tack. His life was filled with activity and sports. Football, hockey, golf and many other outdoor pursuits, hunting and fishing with his children, grandchildren and friends were his favorite pastimes. In retirement Dobby continued to be active with his community golf course, fire hall, and gun club. He ran a small upholstery, boat canvas and saddle repair shop.
A Celebration of Dobby’s Life will be held on March 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Calgary Winter Club – Skyline Room (4611- 14 Street N.W.) No flowers please. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
