Mary was so proud of attending college and encouraged her children and grandchildren every day that you’re never too old to accomplish anything in life. Mary was a proud member of the Prairie Chicken Society which she passed on to her son Robin, however, she still participated in the Sundance and was known to share her knowledge on her traditional way of life with her children and grandchildren. Mary was an active member of the Siksika elders services monthly meetings and activities and when she was invited to other events each occasion meant a lot to her. She was employed with the City of Calgary in native counselling for several years and Siksika Alcohol Services, and also worked as a nanny for the late Kathy Calf Robe. Mary was a strong Christian woman and worked for the lord by teaching what she learned from the bible to her family and friends. She made her Cursillo in 1990. Her theme “I’m Willing, Lord” just explains her willingness to help other people by sharing the gospel. Mary will also be remembered by her humour, laughter and sometimes for her broken English which she was never embarrassed to speak, she used to say “I was born and raised to speak Blackfoot and I will continue speaking it and if they don’t understand me, it’s not my fault.”
