March 20, 1951 – October 20, 2012

Vijayalakshmi (“Vijaya”) Bharatha (nee Chandrasekharan), beloved wife of Subramanyam and loving mother of Aditya, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 61.

Besides her husband and son, she is survived by her daughter-in-law Erin and grandson Anand, whom she adored. She is also survived by her brother C. Bhaskar (Raj), brother-in-law S. Ravindran (Bhanu), and her niece Nandini and nephews Aravind, Arvind and Mukund, as well as her wonderful extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents. She was a remarkable woman who handled life’s adversities with courage and grace. She will be sadly missed.

In celebration of Vijaya’s life, an informal memorial gathering will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North, 403-276-2296) on Saturday November 3, 2012 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through If so desired, donations in lieu of flowers may be made directly to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada (
