BESSE, Norman Earl

Norm passed away peacefully in the early hours of January 21, 2012 at the age of 81 after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-one years Elizabeth (Betty) Besse; his only child Cheri-Lynn Besse; and son-in-law Dave Oakley. He is also lovingly remembered by his twin sister Norma and her husband Ray Schindelka; and sister-in-law Irene Besse; his mother-in-law Helen Sushetski; his sister-in-law Jane and her husband John Moffitt; his brother-in-law Jim Sushetski and his wife Ruth. He will be forever cherished by numerous nieces and nephews along with their children. Norm was predeceased by his brother Tom; and his parents Earl and Kathleen Besse.
Norm had a passion for sports and in his youth excelled at both Baseball and Hockey. Later in his life he spent a lot of time yelling at the T.V. as if the players and referees could hear him. Norm and Betty spent thirty-five years in Hinton, AB where they raised their daughter and made many lifelong friends. After retirement Norm and Betty spent many hours camping and spending time with their friends and family. Anyone who knew Norm will remember his easy smile, sense of humor and heartfelt laughter. He will be missed dearly.

Dear Betty, Cheri-Lynn, Norma and extended Family
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Norm was a wonderful man and pleasure to be around. I thoroughly enjoyed the time I was able to spend with him. I will always remember him buying too many fireworks and getting me in trouble with the State Troopers down in Birch Bay on a forth of July weekend. I will not remember him as the life of the party but the one who could keep life in a party.
My thoughts and prayers are with you,
Richard Oke

Dear Betty & Cheri-Lynn,
I was saddened to hear about your loss. It doesn’t seem that long ago that I listed your home in Hinton ( July 2008) and Norm seemed to be doing so well at that time. Betty it is good you made the move and now you will be quite settled in Airdrie. All the best to you.
In Sympathy
Ann Scobie
