BENTSON – Wayne Douglas

August 2, 1950 – January 23, 2010

Wayne Bentson, beloved husband of Bev Bentson of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Foothills Medical Centre on Saturday, January 23, 2010, after a struggle with amyloidosis at the age of 59 years.

Wayne was born in Wetaskiwin, AB on August 2, 1950. Out of school, Wayne joined his father and uncle in the family business, Fargo Trucking. Years later, he started his own company, W.B. Trucking Inc which he owned and operated in Calgary until his passing. Wayne was a hard worker and devoted to his family, business and friends. As busy as Wayne was, he always found time to enjoy a round of golf or travelling to Phoenix with his friends to attend the Nascar races, of which he had been going to for the last twenty years. One of the highlights of his golfing career was a hole in one in June 2007.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife Bev; and two sons, Chris and David (Rose), all of Calgary. He also leaves to mourn, his mother Velma of Winnipeg; brothers, Grant, Ken, Ron (Shuzelle), and Stanley Jr., all of Wetaskiwin; sister Gail of Winnipeg; his Aunt Ruby of Wetaskiwin; nephews, Nathan, Dylan and Cailean, all of Wetaskiwin. Wayne was predeceased by his father Stanley and his Uncle Robert, both of Wetaskiwin.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.   8. Wayne is my cousin (our mothers are sisters) but I haven’t seen him since I was a child (we are only 1 year apart). I remember one year when he came with his family to spend Christmas with us in The Pas, Manitoba. I have never been in touch with Wayne since that Christmas and now that I hear about him from our cousin Betty, as to what a wonderful man he was, I am sorry that I never got to know him.   14. My husband Clare (who passed away Dec. 30) was a longtime friend of Wayne’s. They told great trucker tales and had a lot of fond memories of the road trips from earlier years.
