1948 – 2013
Edward Ross Bender beloved husband of Linda of Millarville, AB, passed away with his loving family at his side on Monday, May 13, 2013 at the age of 64 years.
Ed is survived by the love of his life, Linda (nee McLeod) and their much adored children, Emily, Don and his wife Korli. He is also survived by sisters Marlene, Carol (Doug), Shirley and brothers Larry (Betty) and Berkeley (Antia). Ed was predeceased by his parents, Ted and Adeline, and his sister Gloria. Also to mourn his loss are numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and his grandpuppies Olive, Sophie and Dot.
Although born and raised in Paisley, Ontario, Ed has lived in the Calgary area for thirty-five years. He embraced the western lifestyle – skiing, hiking, camping, and just admiring the views of the mountains. He hiked down the backside of Mount Fairview, napped in a tent as it was slightly mauled by a bear and enjoyed other assorted mountain adventures. The best tasting coffee came from his percolator cooked on a Coleman stove and kings did not eat so well as Ed did when he had ‘jack’ cheese and garlic coil served via his buck knife.
Ed made many friends in the Calgary community, through his profession as a Civil Engineer, his involvement with his children’s activities including coaching Emily’s softball team and being a leader for Don’s Scout troop, and last but not least as a good neighbour. Although he loved to travel, his family, his dogs, and his home were always his first priority. Ed will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
