BELLAM, Carol Lee

April 30, 1942 – September 10, 2012

Carol Lee Bellam passed away peacefully at her home with her family beside her on Monday, September 10, 2012.

Carol Lee was a passionate educator in her career with the Calgary Board of Education and continued to teach and excel in the bridge community. She was the Canadian nominee for bridge instructor of the year in 2012, an international award, held this year in Nashville, Tennessee. She excelled in everything she did — especially as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She lived a glorious life cut way too short.

She will be greatly missed by her husband Edward Faichuk (who cared for her beautifully), her son Terry DeVries (Laura Lee Dyck), and her grandson Nikolas DeVries. She was predeceased by her parents Allen (Ted) and Alice (Dolly) Mundy, her son Dale DeVries, and her husband Ernest Bellam in 2001.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, September 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a donation, please support a “scholarship fund” for students at William Roper Hull home. Memorial tributes may be made at www.educationmatters.ca in Carol Lee’s name.

In living memory of Carol Lee Bellam, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, Telephone: 403-276-2296.

I had a wonderful conversation with Carol a week ago Friday at North Haven. Even with her keyboard she demonstrated her wonderful sense of humour and she made us laugh. You and her family are in my thoughts at this difficult time. My sincere condolences. Arlene

  7. I was shocked at the news of her passing. I made her acquaintance in her warm and welcoming home this past winter where I gained a great deal from her knowledge and desire to have her bridge students succeed. She did live a very full life, and shared her very large heart and spirit with everyone. She will be missed by a great number of people. Our thoughts are with you, Ed, and all the family.
