Condolence Messages

  1. I know co-workers see only a portion of a person. I want you to know the portion I witnessed was fatherly, honest, full of integrity and always had a smile for good people . I will miss him.

Very sorry to hear of Captain Befus’ passing; he was my very first Captain on the job and I’ll always remember how much he cared about his crew and how much knowledge he had to share. Rest in peace, Captain Befus.

My heart and sympathy go out to you and your family Nicki. It was a great privilege to have known Rich. I looked forward to every visit when he came into the clinic. Rich was an incredible person so full of life, knowledge and hope. Never was there a day that I ever saw him down regardless of circumstance. He always had a positive outlook and spoke with such joy when he would share his vacation adventures that he took with you. When he spoke of his grandchildren, there was a sparkle in his eye….such a proud grandfather. Every decision he made were always on his terms and always putting the needs of his family first.
There are many people that come and go in our lives….the influence that Rich had on the positive way I try to approach life’s challenges, is something I will hold dear to my heart and forever be thankful to him.
    Much love and hugs,
    Tanya Sealock (CFD Wellness Centre)

  4. I am very sad to hear of Rich’s passing. I was his preceptor in Calgary when he was taking his EMT course many years ago. I enjoyed his humor and we shared many laughs together over the years. It is so sad that he is gone at such an early age and he will be missed by many. He touched the hearts of many of his patients, and his fellow workers. I remember many “round the table discussions” at work about life in general, and he always had questions about medical “stuff” as he would put it. He will be missed, my condolences to the family.

  7. Louise Campbell :

I was so surprised and saddened to read of Richard’s passing in the Western Wheel. The last time I saw him in No Frills he was absolutely ecstatic to soon be on his ‘ship adventure’ with Nicki to Antarctica. Rich had such a zest for all the adventures life had to offer. I first met Richard when he worked for me at the newly opened Okotoks Swimming Pool. He was always reliable, helpful, skilled and uplifting to be around. It was an extra bonus that we both lived on Hodson Crescent at the time. Richard loved working for the fire department and did beautiful carpentry work. He was a man of action! A real goer and doer. Although he had many loves, Nicki and his children were always #1. He LOVED them dearly and was immensely proud of them. That love expanded with the addition of a son and daughter in-law, and then exploded when grandchildren arrived! Richard was a very family-oriented man who will be dearly missed by the whole community. Our thoughts are with you Nicki, Tammy & Dave, Rob & Mel & girls.

We will have the fondest of memories of Rich. What a wonderful man!
Words will never be enough to express how much guidance he provided to our family.
Every time I am at my mom’s house I will have the fondest of memories of Rich & Rob and the wonderful work they did making an old home more beautiful.
Rich has left a deep impression in his zest for life and the love he had for his family.
Rich will be greatly missed but his friendship will live in our hearts forever.
