Elizabeth “Betty” Mary Beckett passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014 at the age of 90 years.
Betty was born in Prince Albert on November 21, 1923 to Elizabeth Currie Turnbull and George Turnbull. Betty married Alex Beckett on July 2, 1942. She lived in Garrick, SK in the Linkwood school district on the farm. Betty then moved to Nipawin, Saskatchewan for a short time before moving to Calgary to be closer to her family.
Betty is survived by her children, Allan, Shirley, Mary, Jim, Kenny, Pearl, and Chuck; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Rose and Dorothy; sister-in-law Iris Beckett; and numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of the family in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and Australia.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Alex Beckett; parents Elizabeth and George; sister Lillian; brothers, Jim, George, Andy, and Bob; and on the Beckett side of the family, sisters-in-law, Margaret Fox and Genevieve Turner; and brothers-in-law, Harry Beckett and John Beckett.
Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
A Gathering will also be held at the Garrick Community Hall in Garrick, Saskatchewan on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., with interment following at the Garrick Cemetery.
