Nick Becker passed away peacefully on July 5, 2011 at the age of 89 years old.
Nick was born in Romania and travelled to Canada into his grandfather’s care after being orphaned at the age of five. He was schooled in Kendal and Wilcox, Saskatchewan, played hockey with Pere Murray and the original Notre Dame Hounds and then the Flin Flon Bombers. Nick served as a RCAF pilot in WWII, with the 426 Thunderbirds squadron. After the war Nick attended SAIT and moved into the oil industry with Halliburton. He was a passionate golfer and member of the Elks Club.
Nick is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Pat Stone and Ron Perry and Peggy Rankin and Derek Browne; as well as one granddaughter Nicole Rankin (Wayne Hayward).
He was predeceased by his loving wife Terry of fifty-seven years and his grandson Robby.
Nick will be lovingly remembered for his good nature and playful spirit by his many neighbours and friends.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (Corner of Northmount Drive & Northland Drive N.W.) on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
