January 29, 1988 – June 12, 2012
It is with great sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of our son, Ryan Beauvais of Edmonton, at the age of 24 years.
Ryan was a young child full of life and always had a big smile. He loved the outdoors most and reading books. At 4 years of age, he began his education in Mrs. Powell’s class at Grant MacEwan School. His literary passion began at a young age when he created comic strips and illustrations. He went on to start Grade 3 at John XXIII. High School began in Grade 9 at Bishop McNally where he graduated with Honours in 2005. He participated in the school band and developed a passion for percussion. As a young boy he enjoyed family holidays, camping trips and travelling to the ocean and walking for hours along the beachside. This is when his penchant for nature began. What Ryan loved most was his family and his sisters. He always made an effort to spend time with Melisa going to all those science fiction movies and coming home to take Randi out for Slurpees or Sushi. His cousin Kim was his kindred spirit throughout his youth and adulthood. His other best friend growing up was KitKat, the contrary cat who ran his life and whom he loved so much. In 2006 he moved to Edmonton to attend Grant MacEwan College’s Bachelor of Arts program. He began his journalism career at MacEwan’s student newspaper intercamp. In 2008 he transferred to the U of A to continue studies and later enrolled in their Honours English Program. He also wrote for the student newspaper The Gateway. During this time he discovered his love of photography and writing poetry as well. The University Banner is presently at half mast in Ryan’s memory. http://www.registrarsoffice.ualberta.ca/graduationconvocation/in-memoriam.aspx. During this time Ryan met his life partner. Erika and Ryan met through their mutual love of poetry two years ago and have been inseparable since. They created a lifetime of memories together in such a short time. Please join us to celebrate his life.
Ryan is survived by his parents Rosalie and Roy; sisters, Melisa and Randi; his best friend and love of his life Erika; his numerous aunts, uncles and cousins that are too many to mention but loved all the same.
