September 16, 1946– Municipality of Cartier, MB
June 3, 2014 – Calgary, AB
Fred Beaudry of Calgary passed away at Southwood Hospice on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the age of 67 years.
Fred was born on September 16, 1946 in Manitoba to Merille and Bertha (nee Houde) Beaudry. He grew up in Elie, MB where his parents ran a trucking business and the local hotel. In 1972, he moved to Alberta. Fred first went to Lethbridge to work at the brewery, and eventually settled in Calgary with an opportunity to work with his brother Rene in his growing trucking business. From there, he started his own business selling industrial batteries. Fred always had a strong work ethic and put this to practice throughout his life. He never considered retirement and continued to work until recently mowing fairways at the Glencoe Golf and Country Club. This last job may have been his favourite, as he truly enjoyed the camaraderie of his coworkers and mowing straight lines on that scale gave him tremendous satisfaction. Fred was married to Donalie Beaudry for thirty-five years and cared for her during her battle with cancer until her passing on December 21, 2013. He most enjoyed spending time with family. Fred often enjoyed brunch and golf with his brothers, cheering on his older grandchildren at their sports, or playing with his newest grandchild.
Fred is survived by his sons Paul (Carmen) and Alf (Stacey); three grandchildren, Ben, Anna, and Rhys; stepdaughters Denise (Scott) and Darla; his mother Bertha; three brothers, Gilles, Rene and Norbert; his sister Diane and several nieces and nephews.
