Arthur Baxter passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the age of 90 years after a brave battle with cancer.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Clara (nee Hjelte); a brother Harold; two sisters Mildred Barta and Margaret Schultz; five children, Ann Barker (Peter Carton), Larry (Deb Higgins), June Way (Peter), William (Evelyn) and Carol Baxter–Howse (Dan Howse); three grandchildren, Krista, Amanda and Lorne; two great-grandchildren, Aurora and Arianna and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Marie (nee Beck) Baxter; a brother Walter and three sisters, Lillian Borders, Violet Hjelte and Mabel Waterfield.

Arthur was born in the Aquadell, SK area where he and Clara farmed until 1975. They retired to Calgary where they enjoyed gardening and travelling. They loved hosting get-togethers with family and friends.

A Celebration of Arthur’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at 2:00p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200 – 325 Manning Rd. I could never get enough of his views on life, or his sayings. He was a good friend to my father as well.
