BAXTER, Ada

Ada Helen Baxter, beloved by so many, passed away gracefully on July 9, 2013. Ada leaves behind her husband of 53 years Doug, her children Heather Baxter, Cheryl Baxter (Don McIntyre), and forever friend Shannon Lewis. Ada lived her life in pursuit of loving, learning and leaving this planet a far better place than she found it. She left none of these undone.

The family is forever grateful to Dr. John Kelly and the staff of Foothills Unit 112 for their kindness and expertise. In particular, we are eternally grateful to the professionals with the Palliative Care Team of AHS. Without all of you, our shocking journey would have been untenable.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to The Hotchkiss Brain Institute c/o the University of Calgary Faculty of Medicine, HRIC 1A 10 3330 Hospital Dr. NW, Calgary, AB

  8. Doug,

While many years have passed, I remember Ada fondly from Sherbrooke and Victoria in 1960-61 when I was an Assistant Accountant at the Branch. She was always pleasant and helpful to a young aspiring banker.

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

  9. Jenny Hoops :

    Cheryl,
I was saddened to read in the Herald that your mom passed away. Even though it has been a long time, I fondly remember our teenage years spent after school at your house, when Ada would always talk to us like we were older and more worldly than we really were. You and your family are in my thoughts.
    With sincere condolences,
    Jenny Hoops and family

  10. Barb MacDonald :

Ada and I shared collective office space for many years where Ada was ‘den mother’ to all of us. Her door was always open for a chat, encouragement and heart felt interest in us and our lives. Thank you for all you did for us Ada! You were loved by all and I will miss our chats immensely…

My heart goes out to your family,

    Barb

  12. Morrigan Wilde (aka Karen) :

Doug and family…I am so very sorry for your loss. Ada touched my life through our works together. Though I left Canada and semi retired over a decade ago, to this day I still share many of Ada’s words of wisdom given to me and oh so many others so lovingly. I won’t mention that I can’t help but think of her whenever I see a piggie in a shop window, and always will. Blessings be!
