Barbier, Cornelis “Kees

Cornelis “Kees” Barbier born May 6, 1917 in Den Haag, Holland,  passed away peacefully at Cedars Villa on Saturday, September 6, 2008. He was predeceased by his loving wife Catharina (Tini) on September 3, 2008. He was also predeceased by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. Left behind to mourn, his passing are his loving children, John (Mary), Keith (Wendy), Ingrid (Garry). He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Tom (Lyn), Chris (Jenn), Sherri (Jas), Lorri (Alan) and Chris; his great grandchildren Graham, Benjamin, Melissa, Melanie, Jordan, Nicholas and Jack; his step-children Kees (Hermina), Anna, John (Joanne), Jerry (Alynne), Elisabeth (Ron); and their children and grandchildren. Kees is also survived by his sister Tinie; brother Koos (Jorina); sister Rietje (Art) and their families as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended families. Dad came to Canada with his family more than half a century ago and was a proud member of the Dutch Card Club (Schoppen Negen). Cards were his passion and he was so proud of his many trophies. Dad always put his family first and will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.  Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Cedars Villa (Willow Wing) for their caring and thoughtfulness.   A Celebration of Kees’ Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Friday, September 12, 2008 at 2:00 p.m.  Forward condolences through  As Dad loved children, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Shriner’s Hospital For Children, 5225 – 101 Street N.W., Calgary AB T3L 1S4 Telephone: (403) 239-0030. In living memory of Cornelis Barbier, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot Chapel, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. Telephone: (403) 241-0044.
