I would like to express my condolences to Mac’s family on his passing. He was my “big brother” in Timmins, ON and beyond, blazing a trail for me through school and university, setting an example for me to follow. He leaves a lot of good memories. I’m thankful he is out of pain and resting in peace. Until we meet again, Doug.

Trudy and family. We are deeply sadened with your loss. Mac was such a caring and humble man who left a great impression on our family. He was the main reason why we became your next door neighbor in Sorrento, as he called it the best piece of paradise on the transcanada highway. We are forever grateful for his advice and will never forget him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

    Trudy,

Mac was a great guy with an impecable sense for principals and propriety. He also had a great sense of humour.

Mac was the Party Chief of The Geotechnical Foreign Corporation Party 11 in Grimshaw, Alberta. He hired me in August 1950 and was instrumental in launching me onto a potential career path far beyond my young expectations. All the good things ever said about him are true, in my experience. He was a role model for all who knew him.

  10. Cynthia Grace on December 15th, 2011 10:19 am

Sincere sympathies to Trudy and all of the Baker family. I will miss my kind and gentle Uncle Mac. He was a beacon of light to the people around him. I am reminded of the embroidery at Shuswap:
“The Moving Finger writes: and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.”
    The Rubaiyat of Omar Kayyam
I will cherish the memories with love,
    Cynthia

  12. Chick on December 15th, 2011 8:00 pm

Uncle Mac was wonderful–kind, generous and always fun to be with. I owe him everything–really! He introduced my Dad to his sister Jean (my Mom) !
We will all miss him here but I’m sure there are goose-bump raising chords being rung in Heaven now they have that true tenor with them :-)
Pete & I send our love to all of you and our thoughts & hearts will be with you this weekend and beyond.

  13. Jean Morgan on December 16th, 2011 11:55 am

My love & sympathy is with Mac’s wife, family & friends as you celebrate Mac’s life. It all started in Timmins, ON with our hard working parents, Vaughn & Mabel, whom we all loved dearly. We thank Mac for all his kindnesses to make their retirement years more comfortable!
I wish I could be with you all to relate some tales of Mac’s formative years. He was 2 years my senior–so his boyfriends were my boyfriends, and my girlfriends—–! So we had lots of fun :-) Mac never changed in work or play.

Rest in peace, Mac. I will love you dearly always and can already hear a heavenly Barbershop chorus being formed with that lovely tenor voice!!
    Your kid sister,
    Jean Morgan
